A Healthy Snack The Frugal Way with Brookside Dark Chocolate Crunchy Clusters!

Ice cream is one of my favorite desserts but if you remember my resolutions post, I am trying to get to a healthy weight.  I’ve been doing pretty well with my cravings but sometimes I get an incurable sweet tooth.  I refuse to pay more than $2 per carton for ice cream and I am not a fan of all the ‘healthier’ varieties either.  Well, I found the solution to my dilemma.  Frozen bananas with Brookside Dark Chocolate Crunchy Clusters!

You know how grocery stores always sell the reduced bananas?  They look like little cheetahs.  Those are pretty much the only ones we buy.  They are sweeter since they are a little overripe but they are also the only ingredient in our banana ice cream.  Not to mention that they are a lot cheaper than the other bananas.  I get them and immediately peel and freeze them.  Then they are just waiting for when the mood strikes.

We use our Yonanas machine to make it easier but this can also be done in a food processor.  You just have to pulverize them while they are frozen until they have a creamy consistency, like the picture.  Then you add the Brookside Clusters on top!  That’s how easy it is to make!

On Weight Watchers, fruit is 0 points and the Brookside Clusters are only 3 points for half a serving (the serving size is huge!  There is only a half serving used in the picture).  They are little dark chocolate clusters with crispy multigrains and cranberry bits inside!  They are delicious and the perfect compliment to my healthy snack.  Plus, you get 7 servings per bag if you cut the servings in half.  My kids love them and they think the bananas are real ice cream.  Honestly, it’s hard to tell the difference.  The Brookside Clusters really make the dessert too.  Instead of wasting a ton of points on a small amount of ice cream, I get a whole bowl with a tasty topping for only 3 points!  Think about it!

Do you try to eat healthy?  Have you ever tried Brookside Clusters?  Have you ever made this type of dessert before?
