The Portlandia Cookbook: Cook Like A Local! Plus A Recipe.
I love collecting cookbooks and I have a ton of them. Some of my favorite cookbooks are ones that are modeled after a TV show or a book series. My sister loves the show, Portlandia, so when The Portlandia Cookbook: Cook Like A Local came out, I jumped at the chance to review it!
This cookbook is awesome because it shows recipes from all the different characters on the show. The recipes all sound really tasty too. Dishes like Summer Market Basket Salad and Nance’s Lavender Shortbread Cookies are among the ones to try!
I chose to make Nacho Cheese Popcorn Seasoning. I love toppings on my popcorn and this one sounds easy and delicious. Plus, the health food store in my town had a 10% discount day! I must say that popcorn on the stove tastes so much better than in the microwave. This recipe suggests that you make stove popcorn and includes the directions. I”m only including the instructions for the seasoning, which I plan to make and store. This will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
Nacho Cheese Popcorn Seasoning
1/4 cup cheddar cheese powder or 1 packet cheese powder from packaged mac & cheese
1 Tablespoon nutritional yeast
1 teaspoon onion powder (I’m using garlic powder because I like to live on the edge)
scant 1/4 teaspoon chipotle powder (optional)
Mix all ingredients together and toss on popcorn. Add salt if desired.
Again, this stays fresh in the fridge for up to 2 months. I’m putting mine in an old Parmesan cheese shaker.
I love The Portlandia Cookbook because it combines humor and food. What’s not to like?!?! This has definitely become display-worthy in my house. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Disclaimer: I received this book in exchange for my review as part of the Blogging for Books program. All opinions and comments are my own.
That popcorn sounds good! Also, good call with the garlic powder. You can never have enough garlic!
Right you are!
Yum that sounds tasty! I think my husband would enjoy this, he is a huge popcorn fan!
Let me know if you try it!
The Open Cupboard also has 2 days a month that are 20% off. 🙂
Good to know. The one by my house does 10% at the beginning of the month. What days is the 20% discount offered?
I think the 3rd and the 3rd Saturday.
